Brough (1964) notes Japanese Oak (Quercus mongolica) as being 'mild and kind to work.' Certainly the finest timber I've ever used. I had no idea it was still available. Must be very expensive.

I’m certainly hoping that it’s ‘kind to work’. And yes, not cheap
