Purple Gidgee

Morning all,
I have aquired a small log of Purple Gidgee and I`m told it will take the edge off a tool at fifty paces.Has anyone worked this timber and have any tips to pass on??All comments gratefullt received.

Purple Gidgee was a new one to me Frank, but a google search confirmed it is a very hard timber which is difficult to turn, but takes a finish really well.

Gidgee, great timber, great to turn although it can be hard. But it takes a great finish. One of my favourites

you sound like a man in the know! Any special tips to share for turning this timber such as lathe speed or cutting angles on gouges, all advice gratefully received. Frank.
