Congratulations Bob, It will keep you busy for a while. Have to say yew is high up the lists of favourite turning woods for me.
I think you are right, God has been about. At the weekend , parts I ordered for the crapomatic off the internet arrived and now after two days it is working, albeit somewhat limping. First time since April. All I need do now is get another two guide bearings. ( I knew one was seized so ordered two, but needed four ) :( and to make a handle to lock the table. after that I will leave it alone until the Holbrook is re-commissioned.

How do you get on with the sabre cut blades ? my 3/8 one cuts like a demon but the 3/4 is much more sedate. I find that odd. I discovered my metal cutting Clark bandsaw cuts wood beautifully which was a surprise.

That's great news Larry. I've ditched the 3/8 now and started using the 1/2". (3tpi) I find it seems to retain its teeth edges longer, its quite a lot more stable (beam strength) which helps counter the tendency to drift in dense or very thick stock and yet it's easily small enough to do tight enough radii for bowl blanks. I'm really getting on with the 1/2".

I bought 2 x 1" 1.3tpi's from Tuffsaws too. For fast ripping of really thick log material, they are absolute animals. They need thick stock though so not a versatile choice...very much for the big green logs and nothing else.

Does that mean that now you are management that you should be passing out a bonus in the form of yew blanks

Congratulations Bob
