I've just been and dropped it off with the guy who gave me the wood, it was a surprise thank you gift. :)
That's nice, I like to return something to those who gift me wood. Next time you have some oak with cracks I've found that gold glitter and CA goes beautifully with the gold of the oak.

After spending a couple of hours last week cutting 4x2 pallet wood into 200mm lengths of 2x2 I've started turning my hanging xmas decorations, so far done a load of trees and started teardrops, also have bell and snowman shapes to do, they all sold really well last xmas, from each length I can get 2 decorations and a small/tiny acorn/seed/teardrop type thing

Do like but there seems to be green gunk over the camera lens thats ruined the shot are the two rings on the top stained or a different wood also had limited practice with joint segment turning so am intested in what glue you prefer to use on a many piece project like that

Hi Pat. It not green gunk it just seems to happen when I compress the images. The 2 dark rings are black walnut. This is just glued with standard titebon. Spoke with Nathaniel Griffiths who is a really good segmented turner. He uses either titebond or titebond 2

Basically finished now, although I need to do another coat or two of microcrystalline wax as the finish is a tad uneven!

Still making xmas tree decorations, started on bell shape today, they're not great but they'll be fine for the kids to buy and colour/paint, was going well until I needed to put a new edge on the bowl gouge and my Axminster craft grinder went pop and stopped working, fairly sure I saw a flash by the on/off switch, flaming thing isn't even 2 years old so I'm not a very happy boy ATM but here's a few pics of the bells, they're taking a bit more sanding than I'd like as the wood is so dry it's hard to get a perfectly clean cut on the lighter layers which is very soft whilst the darker layer is quite hard.

Finished a set of chestnut burr Christmas decorations, the burrs were very small so we're challenging to hold but I'm really happy with the outcome, these are a birthday gift for a colleague

And this little bud vase also from chestnut is destined for another colleague who has a birthday next week, sanded to 320 and finished with hard wax, the chatoyance in both the decorations and the bud vase is amazing.
