Not exactly something I made, but after cutting up a boxwood log on my table saw yesterday, and the Great Dust Disaster that inevitably followed, I’ve spent the entire day cleaning my shed, plus I’ve ordered an air filter from Axminster.
It will probably never look this clean again, certainly hasn’t for a very long time.

Just another "what is it?", or to be more precise - "a whistle tuning slide". I couldn't find any to buy, so I've had to make one. This will be fitted in the wooden whistle tube, midway between the mouthpiece and the top fingerhole. This is the MK1, as I'm sure the design will change as I go along.

Not so much turned, as fabricated from telescopic tube - apart from the rings, that were parted off, from a larger tube on a metal lathe
The rings are silver soldered to each end of the outer tubes, and the thin, inner tube ( a loose fit at the moment ) will be superglued to one of them, though only after the slide has been fitted to the whistle body.
Interesting. If you have a metal lathe why not turn it as 2 pieces? Looks like a fun little project.

It's a prototype for a table. The supports are boot laces. On the table they will be loose link chains or soft chord.

Well beyond my capabilities and those of my lathe, to turn two tubes with 1/32" walls that will easily slide inside each other. Better to purchase from a specialist firm, two matched tubes

Seen a few tensegrity tables on YouTube, love them but not sure I'd have the patience or finesse to pull it off

A dining bench which was a nice simple little job for a Friday 
I went to measure up for some cupboards and while I was there the customer asked if I could do anything with their dining bench. They had made it themselves, it was basically a 6' long x 10" wide piece of 26 mm Oak worktop into which they had put 4 threaded inserts then used some of those threaded wood screw things in the end of the legs to fasten them on. Good on them for having a go but as you can imagine it was a bit wobbly! They also decided they wanted it wider and luckily they still had some strips of the worktop left.
I joined up the Oak to the width they wanted, planed up some softwood for the aprons and dominoed them to the legs then fixed the top on with worktop brackets. The bench is actually going to be used with a dining table I made for them over 20 years ago, I feel so old
I beefed up the corners a bit for good measure.

A bit more progress on the bar, a half arch with halo lighting. Made from MDF.

A couple of sterling silver ferrules. They've not turned out too bad.
There is a bit of a blip on the solder joint of the larger one, but luckily, this will be cut away on the finished whistle.

There might be a bit of a pause, before I commit to using the silver.
as, I'm still experimenting to get a better sound with the others I'm making.
