Hi, Being a newbie I thought I would Show you my latest portraits, I have only been Scrolling about 3 month but I have got the bug now and enjoy every bit of it from making the patterns to framing the piece, any comments and tips would be appeciated . Cheers Paul

really nice work are they of relatives? you have captured the facial expression well.

Those portraits capture the spirit of their subjects, an aspect which is notoriously difficult to achieve. I also love the way you've kept your artificial edges to a bare minimum. Sometimes our brains tell us we can see an edge to part of our subject because we see things in three dimensions, but it's not easy to reproduce this in two dimensions. It can look artificial, yet you've been so discrete in your use of such lines that they don't look out of place. In fact the portraits would look wrong without them.

Hi Richard, If you look at a black and white photo
copy of a picture all the black bits are cut out, you have to make sure that all the white bits are joined together or you end up with bits falling out
when cut out a dark backing is placed behind the picture. this is a a very basic description I spend about 2 hours making a pattern of a picture more often than not it takes longer to make a pattern than it does to cut the piece. I use Adobe Photoshop.........Cheers paul
