how often do you have to replace the sealing tape? this appears to be the biggest down fall from what i can see.

Sealing tape will last as long as you can keep it clean. If you put waxed paper over it when you put stuff in and out it lasts pretty well. You can by massive rolls of it from East Coast Fibreglass Supplies for not-very-much. It's actually putty rather than tape, and it's the standard way of sealing any vacuum bag. My bag came from canada via to roarockit site, but you could easily make one. The trickiest part would be sealing the vacuvin valve to the bagging foil.
