One can only assume you are a reletively young lad!
This is how it works:

You take an interest in her buying handbags (and shoes) =brownie points
When she has lots, so you suggest building her cupboards for them = more brownie points
You need special tools to build said cupboards = No problem buy them!
Then one day she will rant "how many more bluddy planes (or insert here a particular tool, but its usually planes) do you need!" to which you answer "about 5 less than handbags you have". 8)
