I work in IT and have about 8 Lenovo laptops lying about the place, all from where I've upgraded over time. Everyone still works and nearly all of them are used regularly (by my children and wife).

I've just given my eldest daughter a Mac Book Air that I had as I bought it for a specific requirement but then never used it. She loves it but I still use my Lenovo think pad. I do also have a Microsoft surface and that seems nice but I hardly use it. I'll probably pass that onto one of the children and have a bit of a swap about.

For work I will only buy Lenovo laptops. Ive probably got about 500 in use across the company. I did also but HP desktops for quite a while and they are good. I've now moved to no desktops and just dumb terminals.

Not sure if that helps?

Thanks Discostud and all.

Since cleaning out the dust and doing the misconfig the PC home built (but a neighbour, but gone) is now running as good as new again.
Staying with W7 pro. unless I am given a good reason to change.???????????

The wife as w10 on her laptop and still moans she misses her W7

Not sure if it's been mentioned but if you want to keep W7 then it may be worth installing this to prevent W10 installing itself when you're not looking!

Although in theory you can go back to W7 if you don't like 10 this hasn't been the case for a few unlucky users apparently.

We've had a lot of problems with our laptop recently.

Overheating - main culprit - hoovered chunks of dust out of the vents!!

Did all the bog standard stuff too.

Defragment - took a while but made it a lot quicker.

Cleared space on the hard drive - there were gb of temporary files and old downloads clogging up the hard drive. Tons of error reports! The more it crashes the more it clutters itself with error files.

Good luck
