Can anyone help me to find an end cap to fit this:- or even help to explain the technical term for its size.

This is the valve from a 1000 litre tank I acquired over here. I'd like to make it a bit more user friendly and attach a hose pipe to it. Unfortunately it seems to have a "non standard thread". The only adapter I can find over here to fit has been quoted at €39.00 - more than the cost of the tank. The problem is the thread size. The cheap adapters, from €6.00, have a very course thread. The one on mine is very fine, i hope this picture shows the thread spacing of about 3mm with a thread depth of about 2mm. The outside diam. is 60mm

I have a brass tap with a thread and nut which I could easily attach to an end cap - if I could find one!

Were it me I'd go to an agricultural supplier.
Or find a friendly farmer in your case a friendly french farmer ( I'm sure they exist!)

BB, here is a 100% crop hope it helps - Ta

Lurker, I've tried my neighbour and the c hap from whence it came - no joy. They all some to have the course threaded version. ]

Blister, maybe but I'd think I'd get stuck trying to attrach a hose connector to another pipe.

Looks about 2" BSP to me

2.347 " (59.6mm) OD

11tpi (2.3mm pitch)

Europe does use BSP for pipe threads

Flying haggis, thanks for your reply.

It is indeed an IBC container.

I spoke to DV fuels and sent them the above images. On their recommendation I ordered the fitting on your link. What they sent me had the very course thread to which I referred earlier. When I spoke to them again they could not help with the finer thread.

cheers
