Mine get returned to the shelf on their side with no retraction of the blade, all ready for the next time. I can't see how any damage can occur left like that. Sharpening gets done as and when necessary.

I store mine flat on wood or the rough side of hardboard, that way I can't catch my hand on the blade or knock the edge with something hard.

I know I have already said how I store mine but I am now wondering if they should be kept in a cupboard on a hook ?
 
Mine are currently stored on their sides, but that is due to the fact they are in draws in a cupboard in my bench. However when the Roubo is finished, a wall cabinet will be built and then they will be stored upright. :)
 
I remember asking about storage and seeing this picture. Stunning. It's like being a kid and looking at a sweet shop shelfs ;)

I must get them all out again, I think there would be less carpet showing!
