Those of you who read the Phillyblog will know that Philly's off the New World fairly soon, supposedly  to go to Kentucky. This is all 'smoke and mirrors' by the way as it has to be pure coincidence that they've just had a Presidential Election and the new bloke is getting his team together. Best guess is that Philly's had the call...
So, what position in the new administration? - Rob

Something to do with Air Force One no doubt.

Or maybe they think that, being a jack of all trades he could Phil almost any position and help to ensure a smooth transition to the new administration :)

I think he's going there to take off those rough edges and smooth the way for Hilary, when that's done he'll mould the rest of the team, after that it shouls all be plane sailing.

Obama obviously feels that, if there's any in-fighting between members of the new administration, Philly will be a good moderating influence :)

Cheers

As I suspected, the usual responses   This was a half-hearted attempt at a moderately serious thread  ...I thought we might be able cobble up a suitable job for Philly in the new administration so that he could ensure that all import duty/taxes on LN shiny things was scrapped...in fact anything ordered by a UKW member directly would be free and gratis ...all those in favour? - Rob

Rob, first of all I would like to wish Philly a happy holiday in America which is one of the few countries I've never been to.

Secondly, whatever he tells his SWMBO I would bet a million dollars (or pounds) that there will be a vist to LN and likely a few other WW places.

Finally, in a desperate attempt to keep up with the others I hope his plane journey is smooth and silky and there is no chattering as he comes in to land.

Philly, let me know if want any Sole music for the Plane, and get your visa stamped before you go - should Shave some time off immigration and Iron out any difficulties. If you go via Kanas please bring back a picture of Tote-o (if you can Handle it, just try and Wedge it in your luggage).

Don't forget that if you want a bag of crisps to ask for Chips and that if you talk to a trucker say Breaker a lot (like they do in Convoy).

If you get asked any awkward questions either pretend you have a Frog in your Throat or think Laterally and look for the escape Chute (or Shoot).

 Sorry

Have a good time though :p Caps of to you for your lovely planes

Brilliant! Had a good giggle at all your comments - many thanks! :D

Seriously - yes, I'm off to Kentucky next week for the "Woodworking Conference" being hosted by Popular Woodworking. I'm sharing a booth with a certain Mr Wenzloff, right next door to Konrad Sauer (who I spent a few days with this summer). The show has all the top hand tool manufacturers attending and differs from the usual show in that it includes hands-on training courses from all the exhibitors. Somehow, I'm helping Chris Schwarz teach hand plane basics on the Sunday.
Needless to say, I'm so excited about this I can barely sleep. But I'm sure looking forward to it - you can be sure I'll be taking mucho photo's, and there is free wi-fi internet access at the show so I'll keep you up to date.

I've been feverishly knocking up some new models to take with me - I'll post some pics soon.
Cheers
Philly :D
