Just wanted to express my heartfelt condolences, sympathies to all the people of Paris at this terrible time.

I've no desire to 'get political' but I sincerely hope some good comes from these (and other) horrific acts of violence, by whomever they are perpetrated. Let's hope extremists of all persuasions are never permitted to take control of countries and deny the freedom the vast majority of populations hold dear, whatever creed, colour, religion, gender.

May the survivors and families of the dead find comfort knowing people all around the world are thinking of them.

I've no doubt that this thread will get pulled, so before it does...

... may the scum that carried out this atrocity rot in hell for all eternity. There is no mountain high enough from which to express my utter contempt and hatred towards those responsible and to the disgusting cowardly regime behind them.

On a side note, watching the news and seeing that Jihadi John got a hellfire missile where the sun don't shine I noticed looking at the TV graphics that there was a building labelled ISIS HQ.

What I want to know is why the f&$k is that still standing?

In 2015, it's time that anyone that commits such acts .... consider that the earth really was once flat.

And that that belief turned out to be 100% incorrect.

Lila by Pirsig ... he's still offering a reward to anyone that can prove the metaphysics wrong.

I have said on an Anglo/French forum I'm on that the only way to stop these stupid idiots is for their own religious people to say enough is enough and then if it continuous for them to come down with a very very heavy hand on the morons!

2 arabs will fight each other and as soon as any outsider steps in the will forget their fight and turn against the 'intruder even although he is trying to help. So it's no good for any 'outsider' to step in!

The morons who have been killed should be cremated and the ashes chucked into a rubbish tip where they belong!

Did anyone else listen to the radio4 interview 'the spy who came in from al-qaeda' +
very enlightening about the brainwashing and lies behind these disgusting acts
Matt

In 2015 brainwashed loons slaughter innocents in the name of the imaginary being they pray to while those they would murder look to the same imaginary being for an end to the lunacy.

It's not confined to the religious nut jobs either. You only have to read the Utube comments on the usual conspiracy theories. Some of them (perhaps quite a few) are supposedly educated, intelligent white Americans (and a whole lot of other nationals too). All that science and they still end up with some sort of beliefs that really are firmly in the dark ages. Having said that, try taking away their mobiles, laptops and washing machines!

Very well said, Tom.

I didn't know how to put it in my OP, so thank you for expressing it so succinctly. Having been brought up a nice polite English Catholic, I was always shocked when the media had a pop at the Pope, etc. Having read and listened a bit more, I cannot believe how naive I and millions like me were / are as we dumbly accept what some infallible guy in a gold-trimmed frock tells us.

And the same applies to all the other religions. Sure, they don't all go to war at the drop of a hat, but if the proverbial really hit the fan and their infallible belief was questioned, odds on most major religions would call to arms, however peaceful they claim to be.

Can we not just let people believe what they want, (or not), and back off the historic sabre rattling of "my God's better than you God"!!

Trouble is Greg that it's not so much a case of 'my God is better than your God' - more that their cult is based on a medieval book called the Quran.

My thoughts are with those in France. But I fear that it has only just started. And not just for the French.

Don't know where this thread is headed, but I am wondering, is the Quran/Koran much different, in barbarity, from the old testament.?

Beat me to it, Artie.

True, Rog. but I don't remember the bible we had to plough through being a light-hearted 20th century novella (hammer)

In fact, having read and watched some of Richard Dawkins, (yes, I know he's not a cuddly lovable uncle figure, folks), the Christian God ain't so all-loving and forgiving as we were led to believe, especially if you are female or interested in boys.

90+ % is just Greed or a desire for Self-aggrandizement be it by Individuals or States from all points of the compass attempting Domination and Control from whatever quarter and in a high percentage of instances those triggering the events just use cultural beliefs as the propaganda label because it will get the maximum unthinking reaction from the highest percentage of the population to muster up support.

The real kicker is that the religious beliefs that hate each other with such vigour Christianity, Judaism and Islam are all believers in the same God essentially branches of the same Abrahamic religion. Better yet will they all end up in the same heaven and continue to fight?

Lets hope that any forum members that are Muslim aren't offended by your 'cult' statement rather than referring to it as a religion !

Rest in peace to all who lost there lives .

Lots of similarities between the Old Testament and the Quran and also a lot of differences. There is also the question of interpretation and how slavishly either are followed. One thing is for certain and that is that there are very very very few Christians who are going around killing and maiming in the name of their God.

Not many. They did all that a few hundred years ago. Torture, burning, death. Countless thousands. None of it pleasant.
