I lived in Palace Gates Rd. as a kid and cars never used to be able to get up the hill to the Palace in the 40's. (when snow around)

By the look of the depth of snow this morning, it is doubtful whether many will get there, I for one can' t get out of the village, and there is more to come, how about you?
Derek.

Derek . where is hear ? you have no location in your profile ?

The show must go on as they say. :D

A couple of people I know who have stands there are already on their way so I dont think this weather will hold them up.

The forcast is that this will turn to sleet/rain in the next few hours and stay that way overnight so the roads will be clearer as the days go on.

I would imagine that a number of people will put there visit off until Saturday or Sunday but I am still planning my trip down there for tomorrow.

Just have to put the truck into 4x4 mode. :D

yeh I have the day booked off but not sure wether to wait til Sunday just to make sure all the demo's and exibitors get ther

It is always worth going, you will always see something that you will find interesting, this year they have a number of new things, one of them is power tool racing, there are demonstrations of almost everything to do with wood and you can get really envious of the wonderful machines they have on display. Go and enjoy.
Derek.

Havent been back to Palace gates Rd. since the late 50's.
If anyone wants to get the phone/camera out when they go over the railway bridge and give me a shot up the Palace Gates Rd, it would be nice to see. (there should be shops on the right hand side and homes on the left.
The corner plot was bombed out during the war when you turn left at the end of the bridge.

Palace gates road hasnt changed much it is still basically as you remember it.

The shops change ownership about every 6 months and they have reduced the usable width of the road and a few other changes.

Here is a good picture of it from multimap. http://www.multimap.com/s/uE9VBN3X

Once it is loaded click on the birds eye button on the left of the map you can then zoom in and get a good look.

Derek,

I am also located in a small village/town in West oxfordshire, roughly equidistant between Witney, Burford and Chipping Norton. 6 inches of snow here, schools closed so spending the morning with my daughter in the snow.

Supposed to be going to London this evening for a dinner!

Hi Guys

Sitting in the hotel at the moment having set up the stand this afternoon and can report that the roads around here are clear. I drove down from Ipswich with no real incident, although I know others had trouble getting down the A1. However, once you reach London all is ok.

The hill up to the Palace is clear and they even gritted the service road around the back of the hall.

Hope to see some of you there!

I'm going to go on Sunday now. That is unless the Friday reports are extremely negative.
