I'm sure an answer exists but my search resulted in thousands of answers that were irrelevant so apologies for asking something that will no doubt of been asked before.

What is the best way to paint MDF so it doesn't look like it's paint but a factory finished piece of furniture.

I'm building some bathroom cabinets and want to paint the doors a grey colour. I did want to see brush strokes or roller marks, I just want a really good finish. I have a HVLP sprayer that I can use.

What paint is best? eggshell? I see lots of MDF painted kitchens and bed room built ins and I want to get a great finish.

I'll be using MRMDF. Last time I tried to prime it, it really didn't work so advice on this would be welcome.

Thanks and apologies if this info is somewhere.

I'm no painting expert but I would go spray finish anytime to get the best looking results.
Preparation is the key though, even a top notch sprayer can't produce good results if its not been prepped properly.
I'd say do some test using your HVLP setup and preferably using morrells paint as it seems to get recommended frequently.
