is twiddling fingers and thumbs... waiting for new lathe to be delivered :(

yes, i know it's out of stock (just about everywhere it seems....) Axminster are waiting for the 'slow-boat-from-China' to arrive.... but when it does eventually land, i've got one on back order.

still... in the meantime iv'e been on to Tracy Tools.com (thank you Richard Findley) and got myself a set of thread chasers, so i'm all set to have a go at, well... thread chasing

Nick

oh... p.s. i've still got a monster of a bench for sale if anyone's interested....?

OH exciting thats what i was like waiting to come collect mine :D

What you go for in the end??

Whats thread chasing all about??

Sorry for all the questions

Hi Tony.... no problem,

Hope you're still pleased with your purchase..? Got any chisels and had a go yet..?

In the end i decided to go for a Jet 1220VS..... half the size and twice the price of the 'old' one.... does that make it 'exponentially' 4 times better..? (it may do.... but it's still the same old duffer operating it...!!)

Thread chasing...? well you know how you'd cut a thread in metal with taps & dies..? well it's similar in wood...c'ept it's totally different and all done man-draulically using a lot of patience and skill..... the former i've got in bucket loads, but the latter... well i keep on bidding on some on ebay, but keep being pipped at the post by peeps with more of it already than me....

Do me a favour and tell all the readers here just how big and 'wonderful' my bench is....

Hi Nick,

It's like Christmas as a kid, the more you have t owait the better it'll be when you get it!!

Glad Tracy Tools sorted you out, I know the ones I had from them were a good price. Shame about their website. One of my pet hates is poor websites!!!!

xc-mtbr: The dark art of Thread Chasing... or cutting threads in (dense) woods. It's not as hard as it looks, honest!!!

Cheers

Richard, I am afraid I have to agree with Pete. If you remember correctly, the thread that you and Nick had turned at the bash took me two passes to obliterate completely

Malc :D
