outside water tap, low presher

Hi all,
I have just fixed an outside water tap but it has low presher.
I fixed it to the kitchen cold water pipe that has very high presser, it is one off them kits you get from hardware stores for £13.
The run is about 3yards long.
It dose have a no return valve in the connection to the mains and it was one of the self cutting type.
It has a screw on the side of this connection, is this anything to do with cutting down the presser?

I had an issue with a tap kit like you mention, it worked fine for a few months, then after closing the internal tap for winter I couldn't get a decent flow after I turned it back on.

If yours is new then take it back and get a replacement and see if that makes a difference. You could also try screwing in the cutting part further, and then backing it out a bit just in case the copper plug it removed is blocking the inlet. Failing that, could there be a kink in the flex hose they usually supply? Is the internal tap fully open?

If these solutions don't help, then I have no idea what the problem could be, but after stripping mine down I couldn't get it to work so I ditched the kit and plumbed a tap in properly - I just wish I had done it sooner.

Hi Reg,
Have fitted a few of these over the years,and only had a problem with one (which was the same as you have described) ; I turned the water off,and took the self-cutting fitting off to find that the existing copper pipe was only partly cut-through (whereas it should have been a nice clean hole) and the pipe had been partly squashed - result was two small holes letting some water out,but not as much as it should.
I actually ended up replacing it with a compression-fitting T-piece due to the pipe being partly squashed (so the bent bit got cut out anyway)

I have turned the connector one more turn so it will cut in to the pipe more, it seems to have helped, a little more flow now.
I removed the wast from the sink to give me more room, then washed my hands.

:sign3: I was helping my dad with some plumbing once. He was under the sink, took the trap off and emptied it into a jug. He passed it to me and I promptly poured it down the sink. (homer)
