i just bought a brass connector for an outdoor the tap, 1/2 and 3/4 inch fittings. It doesn't fit, the 1/2 inch connector is slightly too small to go onto the thread of the tap - the external thread size on the tap is 22.5mm, internal diameter is 14mm just inside the rim of the threaded area, then 12.5mm further up, inside the tap. Anyone know what size I should be buying?
Thanks.

They are usually 3/4 BSP Chris but it depends on your tap old ones can have strange thread sizes & have quite fine threads.
If this connector is to give you quick release then perhaps the easiest option is to swap the tap as they aren’t very expensive & usually just screw on to a back plate.

It's possible you may have bought a continental metric one? They're normally 1/2 or 3/4 inch BSP as already suggested.

Thanks fellas - I've just ordered a 5/8th, sounds like that could be the one! Here tomorrow, I'll let you know.

ps Doug - I ordered a new tap this afternoon, then saw the 5/8 posts so thought Id cancel the tap and go that route instead, tho the cost is about the same!

I have a washing machine valve as my outside tap hose lock goes straight on to it. I have one for hot and one for cold.
