Thought I'd use some of this Beech kitchen worktop to make a big shallow plate - turned the underneath on a faceplate, but found I'd made the chucking recess too big for the chuck jaws - d'oh. It's too big for the Cole jaws.

Any suggestions other than the firewood pile?

Put some scrap softwood in the chuck and turn spigot to fit Plate recess.

Stick plate to chuck spigot with hot melt glue.

When finished carefully split scrap wood with chisel along grain and prize off plate

Edit
Ignore this suggestion.
Got the wrong end of the stick :?
How about those extensions that Chas made for his cole jaws.
There are piccys somewhere :?

..and for the future, make a marking gauge for your chuck jaws.
I have one for each set of jaws - just a simple small piece of timber, with a couple of panel pins knocked in at spacings to match the radius for the jaws, and sharpened to points on the bench grinder.Mark a centre point with the long point of a skew chisel, then use the gauge to mark the diameter for your chucking recess.
