I can recommend 1/3rd pure linseed 1/3 white spirit or turpentine and 1/3 methelated spirits, applied with some 0000 wire wool, that's what I use to restore old tools.

Camellia oil is good too. Good corrosion protection, doesn't stain/darken most woods and is good for the skin.

It doesn't harden like a microcrystalline wax though..

Very expensive if bought in cosmetic form, but reasonable from e.g. Dictum in Germany: Sinensis Camellia Oil, 1 l | Cleaning and care supplies | Dictum They offer smaller bottles too.

A good one to clean dirty tools up with is Comma Hyper clean rinse of with hot water well i do leaves all clean and shiny but leaves an anti corrosion coating on it
