I just assumed that its in the nature of oil cans to get oily, certainly all the ones Ive used and my present couple of old red tin pump ones will always leave a ring where the oil runs down the spout,,Im just in the habit of always giving them a quick wipe after use, keeps them nice and clean too.

Took delivery of one this morning (amazon). Works very well. Even for tiny usage, couple of drips! Very well made.
