New year, new project!

I'm planning to replace my kitchen cabinet doors and thought that oak-veneered MDF might be a good option. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the following:
  • Has anyone ordered oak-veneered MDF cut to size and edge-banded?
  • Does anyone have experience with Uniboards?
  • Would 16mm thickness be sufficient, or should I go for 19mm?
  • Lastly, should I have it professionally lacquered, or would applying Osmo oil myself be a better option?
Thank you in advance.

You may well already have finished the job but….
I used to make oak veneer doors from 19mm oak veneered ply with glued oak edge banding. If the client could be persuaded I preferred a solid oak surround with a 9mm veneer inset panel. I always felt the flat panel style looked a bit strange with oak. I used to spray them myself, but I’ve used Osmo successfully on other wooden kitchen doors.
