Oak Dining Table

In the spirit of the earlier post about not enough projects being uploaded to the showcase, here's one I made a couple of months ago. I haven't put it on the showcase because I don't have any photos of it in its completed state.

The table was made entirely from recycled Oak fence posts - probably over 100 years old I was told.
Not quite what I'd call fine furniture, but you can eat pizza and KFC on it, so it works!!

Thanks for posting that, it looks really well made and finished.

I could live without the lower H shaped stretcher as, in my opinion, it detracts from the table and stops someone sitting at the ends but it will certainly add strength.

I have a table very similar in my dining room (not made by me) and I have had to re-attach the legs as they have pulled out from the upper rails where someone has dragged it across the carpet so you stretcher will stop that.

Mick, I myself am a bit unsure about the lower H frame. I added for precisely the reason you stated, but I do think it clutters the overall design of what is basically a straightforward table.
xy - it does indeed take some shifting, and I'm glad it's now out of the workshop. I got so fed up with shifting it around I almost stuck a vise on it and called it a workbench.

It needs to be removable so you can move the table around. The workmanship looks very good and from recycled wood makes all the difference.
