Nuisance calls:

We keep getting calls from '01111' - never anyone on the line.......4/5 calls a day - 7 days a week !

It's hopeless talking to the telephone provider people - it's a cable company who don't know their arris from their elbow - but we get totally free calls, so I guess they're OK really.

Anybody else had this problem?

It seems more often than not, it is a company called Capital Finance.

Hi,
My elderly mum suffered from this some back. She got quite worried about it.

Solution was to complain to BT who provided her with a number to call after each ocurrance and they then blocked the calls.

In addition we registered with the Telephone Preference Service via the web and this cut out 95% of the sales calls she was getting. Unfortunately you have to register every 12 months.

I dsiagree but could be wrong. I can't see that on their website. I've never reregistered and calls have ceased completely.

Yep - Same for me, I have never had to re-register and now when I do get the odd call, the moment that you tell them you are registered with the TPS they hastily say sorry and hang up

Registering with the mailing preference service does the same thing for junk mail!!

I seem to remember that at one time you had to re-register every year, but they seem to have dropped that requirement.
