Have you thought about a glue chuck to re-mount it. I use a scrape piece of wood that I've turn to fit in my chuck that I use for turning the inside of natural edge and crouched bowls.
Once I've turned to outside I place the block up against the bottom, bring the tail stock up to centre and support then run a bead of hot glue round.
It's held everything I've thrown at it, including this which is 12 inch at the widest.
