Was asked to build a unit that could be used as a gym but with storage at one end like a shed bit
The structure is 20ft x 8ft.
The floor is built using 6x2 tanalised with noggins at 2ft centres. It is built on a rough concrete slab which varies in height. Each joint is levelled using slate to keep the joists off the concrete and to allow air flow beneath the floor. The floor is 18mm wbp ply gripfixed and nailed with 51mm galvanized ring shank nails, the gripfix will prevent squeaking and movement.
The walls are fabricated using 3x2 cls clad on the outside with 12mm wbp ply again fixed with 51mm galvanized ring shank nails. The spacing is 2ft to allow joining of the ply.
The roof is constructed with 4x2 tanalised joists with a 6x2 roof beam. Noggins are again 2ft centres for 12mm wbp fixed to the outside. Pitch angle of roof 32deg.
Picture for WiZer the Bosch GCM10S on stand used for nearly all the construction.
Storage end door 12mm ply inserted into door for fixing 20mm shiplap (actual size 15mm) to match the outside. Picture shows half complete for information.
One of front doors showing 12mm wbp ply inserted in frame ready to take t&g cladding for inside.
Outside of main doors showing shiplap fitted.
Windows fitted using storm hinges and polycarbonate instead of glass.
View of project at current stage.
First fix electrics and then internal cladding to go. Will keep you updated if required.
