I'm very pleased to be able to tell you that I've just finished a long telephone conversation with Pete (Newt) who is back at home following a serious operation on his back on Friday.

Those of you who know Pete will be aware that he sustained a serious injury to his back many years ago and in recent times this injury has severely restricted what he was able to do. Pete had the operation on Friday and was allowed home on Sunday. He is recovering well but is still in a lot of pain and is restricted in what he can do while his back heals. He is unable to type at the moment so he has asked me to post this note to thank all his friends who sent him their good wishes before the operation and to let you know that he is doing well.

I am sure you will all wish to join me in wishing Pete a speedy recovery.

Thanks for all the best wishes. First thing I did when I got home was to order a new shoulder plane to act as an incentive to get well.
