You'd want them to be very stable and I'm not sure how they would be if they were on a slide.

It would be good if they could be made solid.

My bench depth was selected mainly due to wanting to fit the table saw under it. The only thing I'm a bit peeved about is that I measure to the top of the table saw to work out the height, but I didn't allow for the guard on top of the blade so I have to unbolt that every time I put it away.

Convinced I saw a post on here a while back where somebody had built a bench using same principle as Stu, but he had made a sliding platform for the tools. I guess that would mean that a deeper bench was not required to use the same approach. Damned if I can find it though.

Found it! Third post from the bottom on this thread.

A good size bandsaw can many of the things a table saw can do and a lot more. My bandsaw is one of the most used tools in my shop.

Dont forget the 5 year guarantee with Record and their service and back up is superb.

Generally I would agree and I am happy with my Record BS. But I made an enquiry (asked a question) using their online system on Monday, in the two days since I 'raised the ticket' it has not even been allocated to somebody to look at. I suspect their enthusiasm to look 'Internet enabled' has run ahead of the reality so I may just have to pick the phone up, but it is annoying they claim to offer an online system and then seemingly don't do their bit when you go to the time and trouble to register and try to use it.
