So, after 2 days spent emptying wood out of shed, dismantling old bench and building new bench frame out of 2x4 and some freebie 2x3, strengthening joints with metal angles and screwing bench frame to floor with big metal angles, strapping bench top to side of shed, and the final touch of a couple of 'pit props' and screwing a piece of conti board to benchtop.....my new saw now runs much more smoothly, my 5p doesn't fall over for ages :)
I forgot to take into account the fact that new saw is higher in the table than old one, and add that to the piece of board it is sitting on (not bolted cos that makes it vibrate more  ) it is now up at chest height, time will tell if that is too high, may need to get booster cushion for my stool.......
now just need to make something, but all my wood is hiding in the garden box behind the lawn mower

You'll soon be up and running! many years ago I bought 2 Draughtsmen chairs from an engineering firm that closed down and always thought they were bit tall for the workshop but since getting my Scrollsaw/Bench sander and Bandsaws etc they are just the job, just like a typists chair but taller with a footrest..... keep an eye out in the Freeads etc for them.
Noticed you have the dust removal linked up, my Axminster has the same type of fitting but is totally useless at catching any sawdust grrrrrrr does yours work?
Cheers
Brian

Crikey Gill, pit props? You don't mean that going anywhere do you?! lol Looks to be pretty solid now anyhoo and I'm glad you got a decent result in the end.
Now go and enjoy it!

Ask your local pub if they have an old bar stool / chair they don't want.

That's what I use with my scroll saw.

Off out tomorrow to play with new saw :D got order for a name plate, got lots of stuff running round my head too....
Brian, agree with you dust extraction is an issue, think it is pretty poor on all saws, but you would think for the price of them it would be an important issue. Have tried the blower attached to the vacuum, but it is useless, I use it on the bellows, my shed is a dust bowl, the spiders have soft comfy beds. Even with the vacuum attached and on, still get some dust falling below saw, used to be onto my lap, think it should bypass that now and go straight to the floor.
I saw a recent post with a wok lid attached to a vacuum, that might be a way to go, let the dust fall down and straight to vacuum, much more efficient

aye Gill It was my Wok lid (Wok N Scroll) lol it works great for use with the Dremel for hand sanding but not sure how to use it under a scrollsaw, I have thought of making a wide flat nozzle for my scroll saw and directing the dust blower on the saw so it blows it into the vacuum (if its powerful enough)
I did think about making a table insert out of fine perforated stainless plate and having suction under the table but its still in the prototype stage. My mate does woodcarving and his shed is VERY cold and last week he had treated himself to a fishermans survival suit! lol complete with a santa hat..... he said he was lovely and cozy but can't see me wearing one incase the local farmer spots me (he already thinks i'm a bit mad) lol
Cheers
Brian

Gill, I made a tray, about 12"x4"x1.5" deep, to go below the suction under the table. It collects the bigger stuff that the suction doesn't pick up. In your case, you could screw a box to the edge of your bench.
