Hi all I'm a qualified shop fitter but not used my old skills for a very very long time now (25yrs).
But decided the time is right so I've just purchased a Dewalt radial arm saw, a Kity K5 combination machine and a Belkin dust extractor.
I also have a old (x5) Dewalt power tools set :?: .
The first 3 bits of kit I have just bought, but not sure if I've bought the right things for making small pieces of furniture or not.
Any advice please?

Hi Basher, welcome to the forum

Can't answer your question re the tools though I'm afraid

Clever guys will be drinking Horlicks now so should be along soon :)

Hi Basher and welcome to UKW.

Sounds like you've made a flying start because both the Combi machine and the kit of Dewalt hand helds are very nice to have's, give a huge range of flexibility in joinery and finish quality.

Remember with fine furniture, finish and tight fits are always part of the process so some decent (could easily be 2nd hand) bench hand tools really have their place. Obviously, the planes and bench chisels are a no brainer and for me, I can't live without a bandsaw either.

Keep a look out for Paul Sellers videos on youtube....he brings a broad range of hand tools to life and shows them in use in different applications and his style is easy to listen to.

Keep posting here too, lots of fabulous advice from a seriously talented bunch of commendable rogues :)

Hi Basher,

Welcome.
I'm a relative beginner but there's lots of good info on here from some very experienced woodworkers.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I'm not sure if I'm out of my depth though.
My plan is to make kitchen furniture (larders/Welsh dressers) but not quite sure if I'm buying the right things or I'm trying to run before I walk!
The machines I've bought none have come with instructions so I'm not 100% sure how to work them.
I've bought a Dewalt radial arm saw.Kity K5 combination machine.
I plan to buy a band saw and bench top mortice machine also.
Does anyone have any manuals and any ideas on what bandsaw and morticer to buy?

Thanks
