Hi everyone, iv been a joiner for over 20 years, was employed for the majority of it till covid hit and made the jump to being self employed,
My old boss, a building restoration company so all aspects of building wanted to concentrate the workshop I was running in Windows and doors, farming out the more interesting pieces of furniture as there was no room in the workshop, I find making them samey and borning and felt if I stayed that's all I would of been making, iv always preferred to make a variety of things From curved staircases to free standing furniture.
Running my own business means I can pick and choose what jobs I take on, yes iv made doors and windows in the past since going self employed but that was for clients who have also given me plenty of amazing jobs.
Currently cladding a staircase in oak with glass handrails but have tables, wardrobes and other free standing pieces booked in.
Below are a few recent projects I have made or about to start (the sample scale river table in French walnut, black resin with ebonised black Ash legs)
One of the reasons I have joined, I am upgrading my machines slowly and have picked up a casadie fs51 planer thicknesser for a bargin to upgrade my cheap samco one, I don't have 3 phase so getting a 7.5kw rotary phase converter to run it and other 3 phase machines, but also have just found a wadkin BEL spindle moulder "spares or repair", no idea what's wrong with it as the description was very minimal and is being sold by a liquidation company so no help from them, iv not seen it but at £35 (yes just 35 quid) even if it needs a new motor or other parts it will still be a good machine, if it becomes too expensive to repair I can just sell the fence and other parts and scrap it.
I'm hoping people on here will help me with the technical info I'm lacking
