I didn't watch the original Bergerac series and have no interest in watching this one but that's because Detective series don't 'rock my boat'. But, I read Stuarts first few lines and saw the word 'Woke' a word used to describe people who are aware of what is going on around them rather than living in ignorance or a bubble. But the second word that got my attention was Caucasian. This is a word that for many years has not been used in the UK for many years except for people willing to accept US American English over UK British English. It is a part of three descriptors no longer used as race classification - Caucasian, Mongoloid and Negroid based on a now-disproven theory of biological race.

But, we are also discussing injecting reality into a fictional Detective series that deals with an unusual amount of murders compared to real life on the small Channel island?
