I'm not sure I've heard that near parallel is good enough before - if that's true, then why do all the bandsaw setup videos that I've seen emphasise getting the fence parallel to the blade/table slots? As for use, I'd think it'd get used for at least 50% of the cutting I'd do on the machine.
