Speaking as someone who finds most IT things a black art, I think most websites are awful, particularly when you are trying to find something that you know they stock but it's not in the obvious place. Then just as you get used to it, they change it :( Rather like supermarkets that are forever reorganising and you find that some bright spark has decided to put the baked beans next to the duvets

Surely when half the population seems to be employed in some sort of IT job, someone could come up with a basic design that works and is easy to use :?

But then again, one day pigs might fly.........

Cheers

mind you also in the running for the worst woodwork supliers website of the year award (that ought to be known as a "grumpy"), apart from axi and tilgear is :

http://www.toolpost.co.uk/

http://www.stilesandbates.co.uk/

and

http://www.craft-supplies.co.uk/

has anyone else noticed that thje quality of the website seems to be inversely proprtional to the customer care , e.g toolposts website is bleddy awful , but its hard to beat peter for customer service - while rutlands website is very slick...

mind you workshop heaven break this paradigm by having a nice website and top line service

I concur with Pete. Good selection of poor website. Which is a shame because the people that run those three sites are really nice personable people.

I typed adhesive in the search box, and then titebond and by the time my eyes got up to the screen it was already there.

Definitely XP & i/e 8 orientated. :)

Super fast for me.

The Signing-In page doesn't render properly in Firefox on a Mac. Truncated on the LH side.

Information seems to be spread out all over the page. The old site seemed much 'tighter' somehow.

EDIT: Search is excruciatingly slow

I use Firefox and had the same truncation problem.

You need to re-size the page (Ctrl - Mouse Wheel, in my case). It will then spread out.

I also lost all my saved stuff.....

Much prefer the old layout.

Hmmm, I admit I was initially thinking it's just a website for goodness sake get a life people

Then I had a look this morning and have to say it's very messy and overly busy. The top half of the pages are dead with a huge amount of wasted space and those horrible moving banners that distract and stress you when you are trying to look for something, and you have to scroll down on every page to see the main contents. Find the number of pop-up's when your cursor goes over something hugely distracting and annoying too.

So I'm afraid a big thumbs down from me too, and now I need to get a life too

Cheers, Paul :D

Oh dear - why can't companies just leave things alone? The old website was functional, usable, and quite well laid out. More importantly - it worked!

The new version doesn't work at all correctly on Safari 4.1 on my Mac. The menus display in the wrong places on the screen and the one thing I wanted to check on (previous orders, as I am awaiting the rest of a partial despatch) doesn't work at all - I can see I have previous orders, but can neither see nor click on their order numbers so can't see what I've previously ordered :-(

When I tried browsing the categories, the layout probelms got worse, making the site nearly unusable. I have sent feedback to axminster regarding the problems (and found the email feedback link did work for me). Hopefully this is just teething problems - but they really shouldn't have rolled out a whole new site without properly testing it! If this was my first introduction to their online presence they would have lost me as a potential customer.

Just noticed that all the forum links in past threads that pointed to Axminster items are now defunct...well, at least the ones I was researching.

What a pain..many excellent threads now rendered very difficult - if not impossible - to follow.

Hi,

Can't even got on to the site this morning!!!
