Good morning everyone,
Ok so while working at a previous employment I came across a high end wood turning lathe buried under off cuts and a thick layer of dust!
So I dusted it down plugged it in an gave it a spin (after watching you tube) an quickly caught the bug (got a lovely couple of speckled beech bowl blanks to try)
But unfortunately it was short lived as that company went under so no more playing :(
So does anyone know anyone who has or have a lathe that I might continue practicing on in north london? I will pay for the privilege of course
Thanks

Also worth seeing if there is an AWGB club near you.

If you have the space, the AWGB used to have a ‘lathe loan’ scheme for folks new to turning who wanted to give it a try. Not sure if it is still going but the club should be able to give you AWGB contacts to ask and also may have members or club facilities that may help + will be able to provide advice etc to help you get going.

Yes, you can join our club for £30pa and use lathes, tools and other equipment from 7.pm to 9.30pm four nights a week for £5 a night (and buy tools, polishes etc. below list with no P&P :D ). I dare say ours is exceptional, but others may be similar. :D

Have a look at the AWGB MAP to see the nearest club to you as North London covers a large area.
By joining a club you will also get plenty of help and make the learning curve much easier
