I have a Kity 619 that has been sitting in a damp workshop and now won't start and the depth adjuster is jammed with rust. The start button relay works but just clicks so the problem appears to be either fuses or the motor. The motor spindle turns ok by hand.

I have started to strip it down to access what I think is the fuse box beside the motor (there are no fuses in the switch block) and have removed the table top and most of the internals but I'm struggling to see how to remove the large, black height adjuster wheel so I can lift out the internal cage holding the motor. I just can't see how to remove this wheel, the only thing I can see is the spring pin that holds the cog in place which would be a pig to knock out in a confined space.

Can anyone give me some pointers please?

thanks

Mike

I bought the same saw a couple of years ago and it too had some issues, the rise and fall lead screw was totally clogged with dust which is apparently pretty common, to be expected every 10 years or so.

I’d find you a link to thread but I’m on my phone and it would be fiddly! But maybe try a search of the forum, there was a pretty comprehensive guide if I remember rightly...

Any help you can give would be appreciated, it's so frustrating after I've almost stripped it right down but can't see how to get the adjusting wheel off

can you take a pic, I am not sure if I am thinking of the same part.

On my 618, if it is the wheel that I think, you have to take the toothed front cover bit off and it comes out, then knock the pin out on the bench.

Hi,

are we are talking about the black wheel that you use to adjust the height and change the cutting angle?

If so, it is held on to the shaft by two grub screws in the wheels's boss. In use, if you pull the handle towards you the grub screw ends engage with slots machined into the shaft so you can turn it. In the pushed forward position the knob rotates without the shaft, but the teeth on the end of the boss engage on the quadrant rack to allow you to control the blade angle.

Just wind the grubs screws out until they allow the knob to come off. If you remove them be careful putting them back to avoid cross-threading them, the wheel/know is just threaded plastic. Once you can see the end of the shaft all will become clearer. Dont screw them back in so tightly that they grab the shaft.

regards

Colin

Sorry - this was duff info and relates to the 419 not the 619 :(

Here's the offending height adjuster wheel I can't see how to remove. I've checked for grub screws on the wheel boss but can't see any.

Sorry can’t help, thought my 618 could be similar but it’s not. The 619 manual is not much help either.
