today i've turned another piece of the horse chestnut slice- see blog entry for more info and extra piccys
here it is between centres
into the round
mounted on a 6" faceplate
the initial shape is roughed out
the entry hole is made and the neck is refined- you have to be very careful at this stage not to break the bond between the bark and wood. :roll:
here i have reduced the base size but still left some extra for support
using a bend a light during hollowing i turn the workshop lights of and check the wall thickness
all the hollowing is done so i complete the outside shape ready to sand
