I remember a grey getting into our conservatory a few years ago, it charged around like it was on fire until it found the open door again.
The war takes another step...
We have them in our garden, but since we have had to cut gawd knows how many conifers down to size we haven't seen them for a while. we had a family in the garden for several years and this cheeky little beauty was trying to pinch some winter plant covering for his nest. About a foot or so outside the lounge window. The nearest greys to us are about 1/2 way down Italy, but they are slowly moving north..
These photos are one taking nesting material from below our platan trees, just a few feet from the house. The outside of the house is finished with what the French call crepi and ours is very rough finish and the squiggles use it as if it's just another tree

Still get a few here as we are right in the middle of their habitats
they are truly wonderful to see for real and i do have a couple of nice pictures somewhere.
When we first found we had some living near us we went and brought a very large sack of nuts,so £85 lighter and some serious pee taking from all in the pub we had the last laugh as they used to visit us all the time taking the nuts away for storage. Some time later the next door neighbour came around shouting but laughing too, he cut his hedge the following year and machine gunned everybody with all the stored nuts ........ :-D
Don't know why? but haven't seen a tree rat around here for a while.
