NARROW Bandsaw Blades - Under 1/8"- Are You Interested?

Has anyone recently obtained a 1/16" or 2mm bandsaw blade. Something SMALLER than the 1/8" blade that is fairly easily obtained. If so, can you please let me know the suppliers name and contact details.

You should be able to get advice from Ian at Tuffsaws. If he does not supply them, I expect he could point you in the right direction,
He is a very decent chap.

I'm already intouch with Ian, as I buy all my blades from him. However, he does not make below 1/8" blades.

Thanks Brian, I contacted them yesterday but 1/8" is the smallest they make. THis 'quest' is a bit of a challenge. Manufacturers probably don't see much business in smaller blades, so it may be that the USA can provide, just like the Carter Stabilizer.

surely once your below 1/8" your in scroll saw territory? 1/16" is is nearly the kerf, it's going to bend all over the place on any decent size bandsaw, not to mention cut your tyres to shreads.
I didn't know such a thing existed, if you do get one, I'd be interested in pictures for enlightenment purposes.

novocaine ... there is no reason for it to bend all over the place at all if the tension is right. I regularly use a 1/8" blade with the Carter Stabilizer, which is made for blades of 1/16" to 1/4" and I have a Record BS400 bandsaw. These blades below1/8" were made some years ago and even Steve Maskery has not had a new 1/16" blade for a long time and his supplier no longer makes them.

If I do manage to find a supplier, I'm sure some other members may be interested in getting one and it would be good to know just how many? Your bandsaw blade size and name could be useful if you may be interested, as it may influence the eventual cost and I can make sure you are all kept up to date if my quest is reached.

Thanks Glynne, Good thought and I sent them an e-mail yesterday as am having no luck over here. Probably because it's a very limited market. Ian Black at Tuffsaw hasn't made them for years as he cannot get hold of that size coil, but he is looking around for it.

Olson used to make 1/16 blades and also rebadge them for Sears in America but they no longer make them.There are examples of old Sears bandsaw kits on ebay which seem to be bundled with them.
