Thanks, my table gets scratched, cutting out dresses the cutters are “run” on the table top and leave tram lines after a few times. Sewing machines are lifted on and off or pushed to one side. Not to mention kids and diy
So the top gets hammered

the nano finishes won’t help that sadly! As worktop wood I love walnut but having just built something with walnut, maple and oak it’s amazing how soft walnut is in comparison - the wood, regardless of the finish, is the key

Hi there, hoping this might be the right place to put out an sos. I'm about to install a massive 7 meter by 2 meter board room table which is currently in 6 sections. Am using the black forest ceramic coating to give extra protection. I applied the base coat to the first of 6 sections and then dropped the bottle on a concrete floor. SMASH. The table is ebonised oak and I now have 1 table section which is a darker black and different sheen level to the remaining 5 which have 2 coats of rubio on. Does anyone here have some black forest base coat or even blacktail studio N3 base coat I could buy off them (or replace) which i c could come and collect in the next day or so?!? I know, massive ask!!! I've used some of the ceramic coating you can buy here in the UK (all of which are designed for the automotive industry) and in my experience they are more difficult to get a totally even result with especially over the size I'm dealing with. I will be forever in your debt. Contact details are [email protected]

All best

Amazingly I think I've sourced from 2 makers and one of them from this thread. Gotta love the woodworking community. Thank you Jason

This is something I am interested in getting direction on its use, I will in the near future be making an L shaped office desk top in solid Oak and also a freestanding kitchen island unit, again with a solid oak top.

My usual choice of finish is Fiddes semi matt hard wax oil, would this type of Nano product be a good option in addition to the use of the Fiddes oil, and further to that question, where is it available to purchase in the UK.

TIA

Nano over a hard wax is a classic for increasing durability. The car type product I have used is a bit tricky for large areas as you have to work super fast. It sounds as if the woodworking versions as better natured though.

This technology is definitely going to be more widespread in the future. The chemistry certainly works, and there is a lot of research going on into applications. Seems to be taking a while to filter down to consumer products.

Don't know about a good supplier - I too would be keen to know that. Various online places that will ship from the US though.
