Thank Danny, no foresters o leather workers in the family, grandfather was carpenter. interesting, some do look like they may be useful for that type of work.I had something like the tool in the top photo - with a blade width of about 3in and a kind of mini spade handle - the closest I could get was a de-barker or barking spud, especially some of the French versions. Used either just for removing bark to dry wood without rot or to remove bark, especially oak for soaking to get tannin for leather treatment.
The other tools could just add up to a set for a tannin operation. Any foresters or leather workers in the family?
