Tufnol handle and stainless blade bunt with relief channel??

Could it possibly be for putting a folded edge on thin metal or even cardboard/ plastic/leather? Perhaps, one pushes the material up to the upstand on the edge of the blade and scores with some blunt edged knife or roller along the groove.

probably wrong but if you forced the blade into a thin opening, the channel would allow you to run oil right to the bottom / back of the hole. I wonder if it specialist for lubricating a particular machine?

is it flat on one side and channelled on the other?

I'm with the adapted bayonet school of thought.

Possibly originally a bayonet. This seems to be a good candidate for the original: British Vickers 1907 bayonet.

I do not think this is a converted bayonet. The slight slope and worn-looking end of the blade suggest to me that it is inserted into or between something. The raised edge along one side hints that it goes against something thin, like paper or card. I have no clue what the groove might be. Do you have a photo of what might be the underside?

I have not got a clue as to what this might be but I am very intrigued, I hope somebody is able to come forward with a positive identification.

Never seen an example like this but it looks like it would be jolly useful when weaving under and over cane seating etc
Slide it between the top and bottom runs and pass the material down the groove.
