I vividly remember opening the box of my first Lie-Nielsen (a No. 5 that I have since sold) and being awe struck by the finish and level of perfection of it. Obviously tools are made to be used, but there is still pleasure to be had from that first experience of holding something special.

Just out of interest, on the whole 'gloating' front, is it acceptable to gloat about planes (and chisels) that one has acquired over the past couple of years? Or does it only apply to new purchases???

Adam, as a noob it hink it's allowed - never stopped me anyway...

Cheekyboy - I post my pictures on a photobucket account and then copy the IMG link from the picture (it's either the bottom or next to bottom option on the picture) and paste into my message. As easy as that and I'm no techie

In that case, I shall go forth and photograph some HNT Gordon planes and some Blue Spruce chisels. Yummy.

The gloatmaster extraordinaire (in my view) has to be Waka and if you had a look at the inside of this tool cabinet, you'd know why :wink:
However, the most deviant variety of the species is the 'drive-by'... an intentional side line gloat in the midst of a cursory discussion on some other topic. Waka's quite good at those as well :wink: :lol: - Rob

His gloats are always very subtle and never match your dictionary definition.
I cocur that he is a drive by specialist.
