Hi my dad bought a new drill press and he said he didn't think you could get mortising attachments, I found out that some drill presses can have them. I wanted to know if my dad's drill press will work with any mortising attachments so I can buy him one for his birthday.

They don't work well, and results would probably be disappointing.

See the other thread for more detail [Mods: suggest merging this one with it, if possible].

In terms of birthday/Christmas presents that are drill-related, how about:
clamps,
a machine vice ("drill press vice"),
a set of Forstner bits (the Axminster ones have a nice wooden case!),
a magnetic-base work-light (really good for a drill press!),
sanding drums (the Carroll sanding drums are way better, but I can't find a URL - they may be no longer with us :-( )
