Hi all, recently purchased some melaimne edging from ebay in White to finish off a kitchen I'm doing and when it arrived is is slightly off white, not a huge difference from what I have been using but still not as white as I am used to.

I have already used 150m of melamine edging from a different supplier and been happy with the results but their delivery charge can be a bit high unless you have a decent order to cover the cost hence I chanced ebay.

I tried using the melamine edging from ebay yesterday and after applying it it had a bit of grime from gluing so I wet my finger and tried to rub the grime off (has workd on the previous 150m of melamine edging from a main supplier) but the grime just got ingraned in the melamine edging. I tried another spot test and the same happened, no way was the edging going to clean off. If I use the edging on the kitchen and someone puts kitchen grime on it and can't clean it off then the units will look dirty in no time at all. I'm not taking heavy grime just a smudge of dust etc.

I think I may have been supplied paint grade edging because the edging seems to absorb rather then protect against dirt etc, does anyone have any suggestions?

I think you should contact your supplier and tell them they've supplied you with paint grade edging - maybe attach a video showing the comparison. If you have no luck with them contact eBay and raise a dispute on the basis of being supplied the wing item.

Yes maybe I should contact ebay but the seller may not realise that they are selling paint grade edging so I'd like to check with people on here that may have used paint grade melamine edging.

In any case I can not use the edging as it retains marks and that's not acceptable for a new kitchen.

I would return it as above , if what you previously used was ok then bite the bullet and the delivery charge and reorder from your previous supplier -at least it will be the exact match..

Yes I agree and have ordered 100m from the previous supplier.

The ebay supplier is a craft seller and probably not able to tell the difference. I can't use it on locations that are seen but if I end up having to keep it I could use it on the back of units that go against the wall etc so not all lost. It's just the seller needs to be more aware because it's not fair on customers.

Thank you for your comment.
