Morticer improvements

I have a Record RPM75 Mortice machine but i dont like the method of holding the work piece. Has anyone made a better method of doing the job.
I was thinking about something along the lines of the way some people have made a drill press table. Pictures would be good if you have any.

I seem to remember a fairly recent post about improving a mortiser by adding an engineering cross vice that would hold the workpiece and allow it to be moved precisely on both x and y axis.

Since I bought an old Sedgwick 571 I don't use my record any more but this pic clearly shows how I modified my Record

I couldn't get the picture to load in either Firefox or IE6. I don't know why this happens sometimes...file size?

I'm also a bit far away to come and collect a mortiser
