am pretty thick when it comes to computers, my pics are 3.85 mb, is that bigger than the allowed limit, can i adjust them? already tried to resize in 'properties' down to smallest, am using simple 8.2 res camera, would i be better using phone camera? really need it explained in simple terms, usually just stumble around computer pressing buttons to see what happens

Resize your pictures to 640 x 640 pixels or there abouts then you should be ok.

No need to mess with your camera resolution, always best to to keep them at max resolution.

Most photo editing or graphics programs will give an option to reduce the overall size and pixel count.

One free one and very versatile is Gimp, far more options on image manipulation than you may need but it's free and has all the options to save in different resolutions and file quality.

Anything saved at or below 1024 pixels max in JPEG format should be well within the forum attachment limit.

Thanks for replies, thought i had resized pics to 640 but will try again

As far as the forum server is concerned it is the physical file size that is the limiting factor not the pixel size (within reason).

Most sizing software has the option to control the Quality of the image as well and sometimes reducing quality to 80% for instance will massively reduce file size.

Original 1.78 MB, reduced to 1024 pixels at 91% quality 138 KB, reduced to 1024 at 80% quality 73.1 KB.

Dependant upon your operating system the simple MS Windows XP Power Toys image resizer might be your simplest bet.

or if you are running windows vista or 7 then this re-written version Download Link
If you use this software you just right click your image and select the size required and a new smaller copy will be made.

if you can attach them to an email send them to steveb53 AT gmail DOT com and i will do it for you while you are learning..
