MONSTER drill press

ITS BIG , ITS HEAVY ,

It has 5 1/4" or 140mm quill travel   , now thats what you call a drill

It was 3 phase , but I purchased a NEW 1 HP single phase 230 volt motor for it at considerable cost :?
The info tag reads as follows

Brooke Compton AC motor
V 240 , 1ph , 50 Hz , 1425 RPM
W1050 . A 5.4 RTG continuous
Use a 13 amp fuse

Still need to sort out a belt and give it a once over , but cant see any problems

NO PLAY IN QUILL its solid

Will need to collect as its HEAVY

£200

They don't make them like this any longer

only selling as I also have another floor standing drill press and don't need 2

Sorry the photos are crap , but it to heavy for me to lift out of the shed :?

Almost certainly an improvement over some of the cheap drills but a dedicated morticer- even a cheap one is likely to be much better still.

Bob

I'd really like it, but I can't justify it. Not sure what the 2ndhand value of mine is.

Have you tried the Moose, he likes the industrial drill presses  thats a joke by the way, hold on to the teddies.

if he was closer i'd sell the "moose power" one (there must be a discerning buyer aka gullible mug out their on ebay - apart from me that is) and buy that - but its too big for my shop, too heavy for me to move alone , and i cant be @rsed to drive to daggenham

but its certainly a bargain for someone

Dunno about that, hang around ebay for a few weeks and you could pick something like that up for less than £50.

Sorry about that, wouldn't have commented, except for someone calling it a bargain   :? :? :? :? #-o  ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) \:D/ :-$ :-({|= :-# :-# :tongue9: :sign3: :duno: :!: :?:  :|    :x :D[/quote]

yeah well i stand by that - its a "bargain for someone" - that is a bargain for someone who would rather buy a quality tool of known provenance of a guy like blister rather than take a flyer on something cheaper on ebay which might turn out to be worth its weight in scrap iron.

if i was closer and had space in my workshop i'd buy it - but i'm not and i dont , so i wont - but ive bought kit off blister before and i'd recomend him over some unkon quantity on the 'bay

I doubt you will find anything like this for £50 on ebay. I looked for a long time before buying a bank of drill presses as i couldn't get my hands on a single one. I'd recommend putting it on ebay as you will get what you are asking for it. This is a quality drill and single phase to boot!!!

good luck

I don't have the space either. Or I would have been in, at least for a look-see. Brooks motor too. One of the best.

So maybe it is a bargain for someone.

John :D

I would of bought it to if i hadn't bought my meddings as well. This is a "real" drill press not one of those modern ones that don't last. it is worth more then a new modern one in my opinion.

Phone this guy "simon 07976 783134"

If it's on his route you can get a good deal from him.

Having just bought Blister's drill press I would agree with you guys that this is a serious machine, superbly engineered - as good as you'll find anywhere. Like Blister said - they don't make them like this anymore. It makes the Far Eastern stuff everybody sells these days look Mickey Mouse. £200 I feel it is an absolute bargain for a drill press of this quality - especially as Blister had already converted it to single phase with an excellent Brookes motor.

Agree 100% with Moose - Blister went out of his way to help with delivery and everything else and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again.

Just my twopennyworth :D
