The best is normally from your local (proper) butcher, no matter where you are.

BugBear

If only that were true..

I'm a bit of a sausage fanatic (and have the waistline to prove it!) and am always trying examples from small butchers shops I find on my travels.

Unfortunately, while most butchers undoubtedly know a lot about meat, most round our way don't seem to have the first idea about seasoning and how to make a sausage taste good.

Sainsburys 'Taste the Difference' range takes some beating IMO.

As for Mark's recommendation of Richmonds Irish Recipe...

...

Probably the worst sausages in the world!

PS If you ever need some breakfast while out and about, call in at a Morrisons and invest in a couple of their Cumberland rings from the hot food counter. You won't be disappointed!

Well I suppose HMQ knows her bangers after all she is a direct decendent of the sausage munchers (as my favourite characters in the Victor comics would say!).

However I know mad old Charlie likes Haralds Butchers (Thurso) which are my favourites too.

Ah, but that Royal Appointment is just cos She hasn't tried Gerry's sausages yet.

Not much chance of that "they" stopped using anything with a Gerry name during the First World War

mighty fine packeted bangers.
The best ones I get, as I said before that, are from the Hollies farm shop in Stretton. Sourced from local Cheshire farms, there are loads of types and I have tried most. Pork & Apple, Cumberland (although that's probably heresy to those who believe in the 'Bakewell Tart Law' ;)) and christ knows how many others.

The Hot Sausage Man on Market Street in Manchester if a fine purveyor of The Banger and I always partake when I am in town :D

It's all bloody lar de dar round there int it. I bet they charge you £2 a sausage

I am very food likely person so I like almost all testy and delicious things but in the current topic I like Costco's the most...

What about Chorizo ? Put a few slices in a Sausage Casserole to spice it up a bit mmmmm

Chorizo does rock, but can it be called a 'banger' as such? I would label it more as a 'spicy sausage' (must be spoken with a thick and very stereotypical, generic latin accent ;) )

I grew them in my poly tunnel a few years ago BugBear. Along with the Dorset Naga. You're right, lethal!

Gill has a point, the percentage of meat is misleading unless you you don't mind eating --------.
