Hello all and Merry Christmas. I’ve got some work coming up that a mitre saw will be useful for (cutting rafters, window beading). Having never used one before I thought I’d get some advice. Is it worth going for a double bevel machine or will single bevel suffice? I imagine this is one of those tools that once owned becomes super useful, so I may as well get it right first time.

cheers!

Really depends on your budget.

I have a Metabo, (KGS 254 single bevel). I could not find a double bevel within my price / size range. Nice saw and don't really miss the double bevel. I looked at several makes before I took the plunge and have not regretted my decision yet.

NB You may want to have the facility to "trench cut" which the Metabo has, but for some reason other saws I looked at didn't, and I find this a useful feature.

or buy better used...
I bought a 160mm non slider with single bevel...proper make.....
then used my mates DeWalt 305mm slider.....went straight out and bought my own....same day.....
It's not every day u use all the facility's tho....
sell my DeWalt. never......
